91 Freeway Traffic Conditions & Closure Information as of 8pm Friday After Oil Tanker Accident
Get up to date traffic conditions about the 91 Freeway Closure after the oil tanker exploded and has backed up traffic all day. Read about current conditions from Caltrans and Sigalert's Website as of 8pm Friday, to help guide you home tonight.
As of this afternoon the Westbound lanes were reportedly opened and are currently open and www.sigalert.com shows the traffic speeds of between 31-64 on the westbound lanes between the 71 connector and the 57.
As for the 91 Eastbound things are a different story.
As of 8PM Friday evening the Caltrans Website displayed just this post concerning the accident.
"SR 91 IS CLOSED TO EASTBOUND TRAFFIC 1 MI EAST OF THE ORANGE/RIVERSIDE CO LINE
- DUE TO AN ACCIDENT - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE "
It does not state an estimate for reopening at this time on it's website or on the traffic hotline, which has the same information concerning the situation as the website does. The hotline number is 1-800-427-7623 for up to date traffic conditions.
On sigalert.com the 57 Freeway Northbound headed to the 60 Freeway is the alternate route of preference it seems because as of 8:00 pm it looks like it is barely moving at speeds from 5-20 mph the entire duration of the 57 from the 91 to the 60. The 60 is backed up all the way to the 605 and the 605 looks to be backed up also because of the huge bottleneck that appears to be happening now at the 57 and 60 connector. But once you hit the 60 at Phillips Ranch right before the 71 connector it seems to pick up to the 40-50 mph.
Hopefully everyone has a GPS handy preferably with live traffic conditions, often found on your mobile phone with certain services. This will help guide you through side streets where needed to find the quickest route home and avoid the most jam packed segments and get you on to your holiday weekend vacation or just returning home from work tonight in Orange County.
