Basics of Recording on Reaper
This article was written to show readers the basics of recording on Reaper.
In retrospect, I do now wish that I had been taught the basics about reaper by someone familiar with the program before I started recording with it. It just would have been very easy for me to have avoided a lot of the problems I came across in the beginning. Therefore, I will now show you the basics of recording on Reaper based on my own experience so that you can get right to recording your hit record!
Add in any media files
If you need to upload any audio files before you start recording, you go to the insert menu and click on media file. Find the file and open it. Each media file will show up as its own track. You may need to use this step to add in an instrumental track, or background music for your song.
Insert a track
In order to start recording on a new track, you will have to insert one first. Click on the track menu and then choose insert new track. Once the new track is added you have to click on the little record button on that specific track. Make noise on whatever you are recording on and see that the meters are moving and your device is working properly. If it is, you can now press the main record button and begin recording.
I hope this article helped you learn the basics of recording on Reaper. Don't be intimidated, you will get used to doing it before know it. Good luck!
