A Guide to Youth Soccer Leagues in Albany, New York
Good news for young soccer enthusiasts. The end of the school year doesn't mean you have to hang up your cleats.
SUNY Cobleskill's Office of Extended Learning hosts a Co-Ed Soccer Camp for children ages 7 to 15 that runs from 1 to 5 p.m. from Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 1. The program, held on the campus grounds, is recommended for anyone who wants to improve their skills, develop new friendships and have lots of fun in the process. Children who are just starting out and those who have some experience playing the game will learn how to dribble, pass and receive the ball, heading and shooting skills and maneuvers and participate in side games. Older and more experienced campers will be instructed in individual, group and team tactics in a challenging environment and play small and 11-on-11 games. Experienced staff also will teach age and developmentally appropriate activities. Cost is $90 for those who sign up by April 29 and $110 after that date. The Adirondack Sports Complex features a summer soccer camp for kids 6 to 12 years old. This multi-sport and event facility is located at 326 Sherman Avenue in Queensbury, New York. Designed for boys and girls who want to improve their performance on the soccer field, the programs focus on footwork, personal ball skills and proper technique. Sessions run from 1 to 4 p.m. July 5-8 for children ages 6 to 9 and from July 18-22 for children ages 10 to 13. Cost is $75 for those in the 6 to 9 group and $90 for the older age group. The Albany Youth Soccer Program is designed to improve and develop the athletic skills of children ages 5 to 15. Practices and games for players aged 5 to 10 are held at Albany High School on North Main Avenue and those for players aged 12 to 15 take place at The Beverwyck Field on Washington Avenue in Albany between Ontario and Partridge Streets.
