For runners everywhere a good trail is a great place to get in your daily run. These living in the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia area can enjoy some trails such as these in their spare time.
The W OD; Trail
The W OD; Trail (or Washington and Old Dominion Trail) is 45 miles of paved way that has scenic views of many trees and landscapes. It branches from Purcellville through Alexandria, and is for both bikers and runners alike.
Mount Vernon Trail
The 18 mile long trail located in Downtown DC offers great glimpses at Washington's monuments. It passes through Alexandria and connects straight to the W OD; trail. It offers great views of rolling hills and trees along the way.
The Custis Trail
The Custis trail is considered one of the more dangerous due to the highway that it intersects. While running (or riding) this trail, safety is very important. As one shorter trail at four miles paved it is located in Greater Washington.

Also known as the C O; towpath, this trail is located beside the canal which shares the same name. It has a naturally paved road, and is used mostly by sight-seeing walkers and joggers. Its start is in DC and ends it ends in Cumberland Maryland.
