The DS also features Download Play, where one player can download and play a scenario from another player's game without having the game itself. Finally, other social features include PictoChat, which allows players to communicate with others over wireless with pictures as well as text.
Usability and Support
The DS is simple to learn and use, and is easily obtainable online as well as in stores. Support for the device is great and fast, whether through forums or over a phone call. Overall, the quality of construction is impeccable, and the DS will last many years for your children.
Recommendations
The original Nintendo DS is now somewhat discontinued, though you can still find a good deal for one at a price of around $120 to $160 dollars on the internet or in some gaming stores. However, I personally recommend the Nintendo DS Lite, which is much more commonly found, and, in my opinion, better. I find it to be more portable and has an ability to have brighter displays, which is very handy for long road trips. At most sellers, the cost is around $120 to $130. Finally, if you are looking for a more recent version with more features, go for the DSi, costing around $160. However, if you have no need for the extra features and are looking to save money, go for the DS Lite.
